I head ended thought there - Massapequa to NYP - from 1972 to 1980. Merrick and Belmore were elevated at about the mid period of that commute for me. There were wooden side platforms. You would descend form the Freeport el with Port tower and a layup track on your left. Then veer off to a temporary track.I never went east of Massapequa so I have no recollection Massapequa Park. But Amityville Copaigue & Lindenhurst, IIRC, were elevated by then. 1970, 1972. I'd say. |
