There were signs that read: "CHANGE AT HOYT STREET FOR TRAINS TO CHURCH AVE AND QUEENS". These signs were all over the IND Fulton St Subway until the late 1980's or so.

Did they really say to change at Hoyt for Church Avenue? I guess that would be referencing an original plan to run the GG to Church Ave., even though it actually always terminated at Smith-9th St. and never ran to Church until the 1970s.
