What would be the consequences of not fixing the station and just continuing to terminate the 1 at Rector and reverse trains on the old South Ferry loop? Granted, the MTA would likely only receive that Federal money for the express purpose of rebuilding the station. But if it's going to cost more to rebuild the station than it did to build it in the first place, and there are nearby stations (Bowling Green and Whitehall), then is South Ferry really worth rebuilding?
