FRA's Tier II regulations don't go away once freight is off a corridor that is part of the general railway network. (And besides, Deutsche Bahn operates freight on some of their high-speed corridors anyhow.) I wouldn't call the Acelas a modernized LRC, especially in light of what the acronym LRC stands for (Light, Rapid, Comfortable); and the LRCs always had low-platform boarding (they ran into Boston South Station back when it had low platforms, after all) . . . |
