I think Hudson to NYP will happen, but I agree with you- Providing direct Hudson to NYP alone would not justify such.But Moving Poughkeepsie trains to Penn allows for: 1- Increased Harlem and New Haven line service into GCT using the slots vacated by Hudson line trains, which is desperately needed 2- Allows for Dual Modes from New Haven, Danbury, and Waterbury to run through Penn to POU, allowing for single engine trains instead of the double ended absurdities LIRR is forced to deal with. Of course, such would be unbalanced during rush hours, but would certainly help with capacity issues during peak hours. |
