The reason that the N and R swapped was due to the R Line's lack of a convenient maintenance facility at either end of the line. I worked as the T/D at 95 St a few times and it was a real pain getting cars to/from CIY for inspections and repairs. Layups and put ins to/from CIY required a revers move on the mainline 4 Av exp tracks at 36 St and during AM layup periods that impacted in the West End and Sea Beach express services. |
