If we're building something, it's going to be a testament to modern architecture, not some forsaken pastiche of revival architecture from "La Belle Époque". The French design modern stations for the TGV, and Berlin Hauptbahnof isn't some third rate imitation of the old station, but hands down, one of the best looking train station in the world. I am not interested in spending state money in pandering to the memories of some Baby Boomers, but I have no qualms in pushing the architecture further into the future... |
