Thanks. These are cool pix, but they don't show what we don't already know- the tunnels were supposed to go farther than they did. They may even have extended a bit behind the wall..enough, according to some TA veterans on here, to lay up a train or two.

But they in no way prove that there was service to 76th Street- or even that there's a station shell there. The fact that signals were installed is no more significant than the fact that some signs ("arden Avenue - Albee Avenue") and even lampposts (really nice M400s that I never saw lit up near I-278. The NYSDOT killed them a few years ago) were installed on some of the never-used sections of the Richmond Parkway in Staten Island.

The powers that be (or were) intended to use these sections, got as much doen as they could, and provided for some support infrastructure in the construction contracts. That's all.
