PATH signal trouble

Coming into Journal Square the train tripped. The engineer recharged the train we pulled up one car length and tripped again. The conductor announced that everyone should hold on because each car was going to trip. We tripped and recharged several more times. We made the station stop and then tripped two more times leaving the station. A friend of mine said that the train he was on did the same thing. I've never seen this done on the subway. I guess they do things differently on PATH
