Posted by RailBus63 on Sun Jun 3 09:27:45 2012 Good mix of equipment on the A on Saturday:Spotted an R42 set to Far Rockaway going south through Rockaway Blvd at 3:42. Didn't catch it coming back north though (boarded an R32 set back to Manhattan at 80-Hudson at 5:44). A second R42 set was operating to Lefferts and passed through 104-Oxford at 4:12 and then back north through 80-Hudson at 4:33. The rest of the trains were what seemed to be an even mix of R32's and R46's. There were four straight Far Rockaway trains of R46's in the 2:00 to 3:00 hour until an R32 set went south from Rockaway Blvd at 3:15. From then the procession was mostly Brightliners and the R42's to the seashore for the next 90 minutes. The Lefferts runs were more evenly mixed during the time we were out there. As noted in another post, there was one train of R32's and one train of R42's laid up at Rockaway Park yard. The S was three 8-car trains of R46's. Didn't see any other fans out on the Queens end of the A on Saturday afternoon. Kind of surprising since the weather was so nice and the excitement over this move has been so high. |
