I don't recall removing the shroud as a considered solution since the cooling of the motor relied on tunnel air being sucked through the condensers bu the compressor motor fans. This issue led to two findings.
1) Condenser cleaning was not being done properly (Pitkin Shop began doing 32 cars per weekend to help out)
2) The ambient temp of the tunnel air did not permit enough cooling.

This led to finding one of the strangest issues of the entire debacle. I don't remember the exact number but for argument sake, lets say the HVAC compressor motor was designed to operate at a maximum temp of 135 Degrees F. Yet it was discovered that the thermal overload protectors in the motors would open up at a temp which was 5 degrees below the maximum operating temp. When the motor cooled, the overloads would close and the motor would work normally again.
