Swap in larger sills at the doorways and it would be 10'6" wide. The original 56' long G series cars were that wide. They're about 37 yrs old. TTC seems to retire their stock when they reach 30-35 yrs old. Some go to the scrap yard, but the H-5 and H-6 are slated to go overseas (Lagos Metro).http://www.subways.net/nigeria/lagos.htm I could imagine these running short turn service (w/ 750V electrical equipment) on the LIRR between the Queens County Line (or at least Jamaica Station and Willet Pt-Mets) and Atlantic Ave, NY Penn Station, (and Grand Central Terminal ESA level when done). It would resemble RER, S-Bahn, or Japanese commuter rail service. |
