FWIW, I started riding the system methodically the last months of 1956, or about six months after the Fulton closed for good. In those days I never saw on R10 on any service except the A. I saw Standards and R16s on the Canarsie.I saw the Pitkin el intact for some time after I started riding, from the vantage points of the A train at the north end and the Canarsie Line at the south end. I don't know exactly when it was demolished, but it wasn't in 1956. |
