The outside (most easterly track) only connected to the J line north of Atlantic Ave. It would have allowed an inbound Fulton St. train to travel down Bway on the J line, the same connection that is used for the K train. Since the Fulton line was only three tracks, I am told there was a switch to add the fourth track as the train curved into Snediker Ave. When I moved into Canarsie in 57, it was all gone (except for the remains around Atlantic.) Switching and all those trains arriving from both directions (not counting the Bway line) must have been a railfans dream location. |
