While mentioning moderators, let me explain why I always liked Dave's board, and it's lack of "moderators", and why I liked Dave's style on the board.
I already posted this on Harry's board, but I will copy and paste it here, but it's written in context to the post I was responding to at Harry's Board:

Duh, that's why we need moderators. Well not specifically for that reason because calling someone an asshat is a necessary evil. But we need mods for other reasons.

Let me explain why I am really reluctant to post on a "moderated" board. The problem is it is too iron handed.
I like the railroad.net board, but I just read something that is very disturbing. There is a discussion going on about about MNRR's bar cars. See link here.
Through the course of conversation, on the second page, there are two posts mentioning the LIRR's barcart service, and THIS is the response of the moderator:

This is the MetroNorth Forum. Enought discussion of LIRR bar cart practices please. Take that over to the LIRR forum.

Thank you.

Kevin
Moderator, MNRR Forum

(The post is currently the last one on page two, but obviously that will change. The post was made on 8/19/04 on page 2).
Does anyone else find that outrageous?!?! Two posts about an on topic train post, even under the "bar car" heading, but just a different MTA railroad, and people get a response like that from the moderator? Gimme a break. How can anyone have intelligent conversation under conditions like that.
