Funneling passengers through security would destroy those systems.If done right, airport style security could be implemented at major transportation hubs such as Penn Station and still move the masses. Although certainly smaller than some US rail systems and stations, Israel Railways (622 miles total in the network, 340 trains on weekdays, capacity for 36,000 passengers a day, 51 stations total systemwide) has a "closed" system where passengers must pass through security checks to enter each and every station. |
