My other place of visit in the Hudson Valley was to selected locations along the CSX River Line mostly thru Rockland County, but also a trip up to check out Iona Island!! Of course, much as my title to this posts states, things started off really hot, but then got really, and I do mean REALLY (5 1/2 HOUR WAIT!!!) cold!!!

First, in the lowly village of Congers, we get a mode in depth look at the Congers Station. Having lost a race to catch CSX Q434 (Oak Island NJ to Selkirk), I had enough time until my next bit of action to take a look around the station area. Between you and me (and I can already hear the Subchatters talking about passenger on this line alreayd!!), this station begs to become a commuter station, down to the parking lot!! Let's take a look!!

Congers Station, with a beautiful park to welcome you here!!

This sure would be one beautifully furnished commuter station!! I can just see the commuters flowing thru this station on a weekday peak period!! :-)

A parking lot at the station just beggin for a gaggle of commuters' cars to park here!! :-)

One last look at the well constructed canopy, as the scanner has crackled and we have action comin' at us!!

For our first catch here, CSX Q268, Louisville KY to Doremus Avenue Yard (Via Oak Island, National Docks Secondary) Newark NJ, lead by yet another SD70ACe with a truly disastrous K5LLA horn, the 4835, and CW44AC (man how I wish the CW was in the lead!!) 461 and a nice load of loaded autoracks!!

And shortly thereafter, after waiting for Q268 in the siding between CP 26 (Valley Cottage) and CP 22 (Blauvelt), CSX K645, Linden NJ (Via Chemical Coast Secondary, Oak Island and National Docks Secondary) to Chicago IL (Iowa Chicago & Eastern interchange) blasts thru with a more worthy, and kick ass K5LA, atop "Oak Pointer" SD40-2 8853 and SD70AC 4744 and a lot of ethanol tankers runnin' on empty!! :-)

Now the cold begins to settle over the CSX River Line, as once K645 got north of CP 69, the River Line did NOT see a single train for 5 1/2 hours!!! Now being pissed off, I wandered about shooting the railroad scene in the silence!! Here is what I caught as I made my way north on Route 9D........

Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, as seen from Route 9D in Stony Point

Looking south form this pathway, Automatic Signal 38.3

Looking north, the Stony Point Defect Detector

Now at Iona Island, I continue this tedious wait, taking a look at the scene around

Old school, and typical modern generic, mileposts representing CSX River Line MP 41

Of course, no railfan outing is not complete with a fine show of stupidity while trackside!! In this shot, it appears to be a family thing!! The dog too!! SMFH >:-P

I guess RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) and HOP (Hooked On Phonics) did NOT work for them!!! >:-P This is located right adjacent to these imbeciles!!

Suspicious vehicle spotted at Iona Island aside the old school MP 41!!!!

The Triad of "41s", as we have the new generic Milepost 41, Automatic 41 and old school Milepost 41 all together!!!

FINALLY!! Sings of life on the River Line!! 2 CSX track cars, engaged in the track work up around CP 69, are now hustling southward, to clear up at West Haverstraw

And these 2 were hustling for good reason, as hustling southward hot on their heels, a break to the 5 1/2 hour lull, CSX Q116, Chicago Bedford Park Yard to The Port Of Newark, NJ, lead by C40-8W 7788 and newly rebuilt SD40-3 4004 (notice the squared cab) and a good haul of single level and doublestack containera off to the Port Of Newark

Thank you for viewing!! Hope you have enjoyed!! And again, be forewarned, the River Line's worst day is Sunday!!! Learn from my example!! :-D
