At the Atlantic Avenue station, on the New Lots/Flatbush Avenue bound LOCAL platform near the center of the platform are the pathways to other trains.

At the "center north" position there is a stairway that goes to the lower level passageway for riders to transfer to other lines. In this case "north" means the direction in which the Brooklyn bound train is traveling.

At the "center south" position there is a stairway that goes to the lower level passageway for riders to transfer to other lines. In this case "south" means toward the back end of the train.

At the "center center" position of the platform there is a RAMP that leads downward to a large passageway for the D, N and R trains. On the left side of this ramp ON THE SAME PLATFORM is the elevator to the lower level as shown in a picture that someone had taken and posted a few messages ago. On the right side of this ramp is the large set of stairs that was shown in the same picture. From the same platform, there a fence railing so that riders do not fall on the stairs below. Above the fence railing, above those same stairs is the restored old head house that has a glass window roof that lets in sunlight to the station. This is a wonderful place to stand to get cell-phone reception, and plenty of police officers stand there also for radio reception.

Now suppose that I needed a wheel chair to travel to/from the D, N or R trains at the Pacific Street station. First I'd roll off the train, roll to the elevators that are on the platforms. These elevators will take me UP to the main passageway to the #2, #3, #4 and #5 plus the B and Q lines. From that main passageway not very far from the token booth and turnstyles that exit one on Pacific Street/Fourth Avenue on both sides one can see those elevators to the platforms. From the wheel chair position, that exit if BEHIND me as I roll along the passageway.

I'd roll along that main passageway on the right side to the very same Flatbush AVenue/New Lots bound local platform, up that short ramp, and turn right to find the elevator to the lower level. Again this is the SAME elevator that was shown in that picture. Once on the lower level passageway, I can then roll to the other elevators for the Manhattan bound IRT platforms, etc.

I hope this helps.
Mike
