The reason for the right-side ramp continuing the Gowanus at the Belt split is because that ramp was added on when the Gowanus was extended to the VZ in the 60s.It's NOT confusing to go left when you want to go right (or vice-versa) on a highway interchange. Just look at most interchanges that provide ramps from the highway to the perpendicular road in each direction. Before the road, the right-hand exit just bends to the right 90 degrees. The exit past the road bends to the right 180-270 degrees. |
