MTA has a nasty habit of being its own worst enemy..When the TA scrapped the R10/16/27/30,and replaced them with the R68's..that left us with MAJOR CAR SHORTAGE.. It happened during the 60 with the BMT/IND..after they scrapped the D UNITS.. the Queens division R units were breaking down in vast numbers..and they didnt purchase enough R38 to cover. Just like today..they didnt purchase enough R160's..thats the real reason the two subway lines were eliminated. |
