A Q train will closely follow a southbound N leaving Times Square, and will pass the N either just before or just after Union Square. But at Prince St., the Q gets a red signal and waits for the N to go ahead of it over the bridge. Why bother running the Q express if it is not allowed to actually overtake a local train? Either run everything local, or let the express run count for something by passing a local and staying ahead of it. BTW, why not let the Q stay on the express track through 57th St? Trains can run between the 60th St. tube and the express tracks at 57th, and 49th St. doesn't really need three services. |
