The core of this problem is that this meeting at 34th St is often the result of the Q, earlier in its run, being held at DeKalb forever to make sure an N gets by it, which makes no sense at all. By the time the Q catches up to the N along Broadway, it can very well be 34th St already. Even if only two minutes separate the trains, if 30 seconds are picked up at each of the 4 skipped Broadway stations, there you have it.Anytime you have a line bypass a station that another stops at before having that bypassing train become a local and that stopping train become an express, as is the case with the N and Q regarding DeKalb and then Broadway, unless it's an intentional skip-stop system like the J/Z, you are asking for trouble. |
