I've heard that too but I can't understand why they would have done that since there were older cars that were specifically built for the BMT that would have been more entitled to receive that designation. If the BMT's car type lettering were to be properly applied, the Multis would be definitely deserving of the E type designation and the Qs would merit an F type. If the Bluebird were to receive a type, then it would probably be called a G type although I'm not sure if the BMT would have assigned a type designation to a small experimental fleet. That would mean that the absolutely lowest letter type that should have been assigned to the SIRT cars would have been G if the bluebirds weren't typed or H if they were. |
