The SIRT did run a six-car train. I took a shot of one in Aug. 1958. The image is on Subway.org, under "Stations -- Staten Island Rapid Transit, Oakwood Hts. Station, image #74059."

That day I walked the SIRT from St. George and got as far as Oakwood Hts. It was about 6:00 p.m. when that 6-car train passed just north of the station on the old shoo-fly before the grade separation.

In the rush hour, the SIRT was very busy, even in those pre-Verazzano Bridge days, and long trains were common. But a 6-car train was even a surprise to me!
