He said the state would be better off using the bulk of the windfall on one-time expenditures, such as mass transit and upstate transportation projects.

FWIW, the state should pay down debt, fund capital plans, or ensure proper pension plan funding. Or hell, create a sovereign wealth fund with the money, and use the dividends in future years to add to the state budget. Using it for tax cuts or other operational spending is wrong.

They don't dodge the laws (most of the time) but they can afford to hire lawyers who know every trick in the book to beat the rap or reduce prison time.

I don't disagree with the charge, just with the fact that someone out there in America would say what they said to the police.......that a bunch of illegals were in a truck. Is that what America has come down to? that Hispanics are thought of in America as "illegals?" is that what you want Spider-pig?

FAUD is stealing....do you know uderstand that? these bankers knew what they were doing....that is FRAUD. no....they did not go to a store and steal beer or money from the cash register, but they committed fraud. And people at the end suffered for it.

What are you referencing specifically? In most cases the fraud was committed by the borrowers. In most others by the lenders. What was the bank executive fraud?

Look, if you are going to live in a capitalist system, you are going to have greedy crooks. If you want to do away with wealthy crooks, you have to do away with wealth, and that is socialism.

Pick your poison.

"What was the bank executive fraud?"

These executives knew what the deal was with these loans....that the borrowers could never succussfully pay the monthly as per the terms of the loans. Yet they "rubber stamped" them as OK even though they knew what the real deal was. This is fraud since investors were never told these were "WEAK" loans. These loans really should NEVER have been approved in the 1st place then this would never have happened.

Eh? That makes it sound like socialist systems do not have greedy crooks. And the way these banks have been operating of late is more akin to crony-type fascism, not captialism.

How in the world would a bank executive in SF, NY, Charlotte or wherever BOA is based have known about individual fraudulent loans made by workers at countrywide, a company BOA hadn't even bought yet?

Personally I know several people that knowingly lied on their loan application. They were told by the lenders that "everyone does it". But it's a stretch to prosecute a bank executive for reselling a loan when the actual fraud was committed by the original lender and the buyer. The "we know you really knew about it" tactic may not be enough without some sort of proff.
