It's pointless unless you can get the big drinks out of 7-11 and bodegas.

Well, according to the new law, you can't buy any soda over 16oz. But you can buy two 12 or 16oz sodas to thumb your nose at City Hall. :-/

Wait a minute, the law is flawed !

Unless you don't ask for ice in a 20oz container of soda, are you really getting 20oz or 16 oz ?

Those ice cubes take up some space.

There should be a ban on Slurpees. One size(16oz) and no refills.

Something must be done about fatness.

One size(16oz) and no refills.

I was wondering about the fact that many if not most sit-down restaurants give free refills with fountain drinks. What's to prevent someone from getting a number of refills.

Are you seriously supporting this new law?

My problem with the law is that it isn't far reaching enough. There must be a way to go after DD, 7-11 and Starbucks. They are the problem.

When did I "attack" you? I didn't call you a moron or state that you don't deserve freedom as you so willingly support government mandates that limit your ability to choose the portion of food and drink that you may desire...

I'm merely trying to make sure you weren't being sarcastic in your statement, and now I understand you are not. Thanks for the clarification!

It's pointless because it attacks the wrong thing.

Japan's fat tax is a better approach, at least it's attacking the actual problem (and IIRC the tax goes towards their national healthcare system, meaning it's attacking the problem from two directions).

I am overweight but not fat (I would fit within the fat tax boundaries), why does the existence of blimp-sized people mean I cannot enjoy large amounts of soda?

All this does is mean NYC-ers hate freedom. I drink a *lot* while eating. No large self-serve cups means I can't even have an appropriate quantity of water. I'll just start asking for multiple cups of water, and make damn sure to toss them in the street arbitrarily... I hope fast food joints get the idea and drop the price of a 16oz to 75 cents, or have it at 1.25 but have a "buy one get a second for a quarter!" deal.

Fuck you nannies.

I avoid Pepsi except at Blast games since the First Mariner Arena (nee Baltimore Arena and Civic Center, it's been around since you could get there by streetcar when it opened which means the building was built in 1962) the contract is with Pepsi and they don't have my favorite which is Doctor Pepper.
