It's pointless because it attacks the wrong thing.

Japan's fat tax is a better approach, at least it's attacking the actual problem (and IIRC the tax goes towards their national healthcare system, meaning it's attacking the problem from two directions).

I am overweight but not fat (I would fit within the fat tax boundaries), why does the existence of blimp-sized people mean I cannot enjoy large amounts of soda?

All this does is mean NYC-ers hate freedom. I drink a *lot* while eating. No large self-serve cups means I can't even have an appropriate quantity of water. I'll just start asking for multiple cups of water, and make damn sure to toss them in the street arbitrarily... I hope fast food joints get the idea and drop the price of a 16oz to 75 cents, or have it at 1.25 but have a "buy one get a second for a quarter!" deal.

Fuck you nannies.
