Happy Hiroshima Day

Posted by Avid Reader on Mon Aug 6 10:09:42 2012

fiogf49gjkf0d
Yes, that's right. Happy!

Not for the lives lost, but for those saved!

The Leaders in Japan, at that time, needed to have their eyes

opened to the fact that the war was lost.

That , and no more lives needed to be lost by the civilian

population, their military, and the military forces apposed to them.

The European war was over, but US military personal that had

survived Europe, faced a new peril with the possible invasion of

the Japanese Home Islands.

Estimates of loses were in the hundreds of thousands , if not

millions.

They lived, and some here may owe their very existence to "Fat

Man" , and "Little Boy"

Only sick people are happy and celebrate something like this.

Truman did what needed to be done but there is no reason to rejoice unless you are just another chickenhawk psychopath.

You think Truman who saw immense destruction during WW1 got giddy about it?

Excuse me, but this is NOTHING to be happy about! People lost their lives, and those who survived the bombs, lived in excruciating pain for the rest of their lives. Do you really want to make light of this unfortunate event? Next time, THINK before you ever post something like this. It's downright offensive.

Seriously.

I REPEAT, HAPPY HIROSHIMA DAY.

I had uncles that survived WW II , because the war was forced to a close.

Those uncles went on to bring into this world a total of nine children. Those children in turn brought about more children.

Untold millions of Japanese, on the plains of Tokyo, were able to do the same.

Plainly put, the tools of war we had, out did their tools of war.

It is not as if the Japanese weren't warned.

They believed they could drag out the war, inflict horrible loses on the US Military , and get favorable terms.

They were prepared to throw away civilian lives, and for what?

HAPPY HIROSHIMA DAY!!!

Truman had three alternatives.
1 Drop the bomb
2. Invade Japan in the fall of 1945 (4 MILLION DEAD)
3. blockade Japan for several years before occupying it leading to
millions of Japanese deaths.
Truman actually took the least bloody alternative.

Very true.

One of my uncles had enlisted with the US Army, for one year, in the early part of 1941.
He was due to get out, but Dec.7th, extended his enlistment for the duration.
He survived North Africa, and Normandy's Omaha beach, France, and Holland, then into Germany. Some, in his unit, were told they would be going to the Pacific.
The US Army had some kind of Point system to get out.
I Don't know where he stood.
But Happy Hiroshima Day, took care of that.

Again, using the A bomb was a necessary evil. Truman made the right call and it did end the war. However, it's not something to be giddy about, but rather something to keep in mind about what war is all about. Soldiers don't celebrate the casualties they inflicted but celebrate that the war is over.

Next time think before you post.

Lots of us poorly express ourselves here. No problem. I was speaking in a greater generality than this though. There's nothing happy about it even though at the time the Japanese were not going to give it up. I agree that it was probably the one thing that stopped the war, but there's no joy to be had in mass killing of civilians.
