It just so happens that:a) Land is for everyone's use (or it was, at least) b) Genocide of a group of people or race is senseless and evil, and should never be attempted to prove a point. And no, the "white man"* didn't create murder, but white people certainly perpetuated it more so than other races by using unimportant crap like race and finances to gain power over people. But again, separation of the races is meaningless, as we are all of the same race - the HUMAN RACE. We should celebrate the GOOD things that make us unique (ex: our talents/hobbies), and cherish what makes us the same (we all hurt, love, cry, fall short, sacrifice, etc); independence with interdependence. DO NOT put words in my mouth, please; unlike you, I have my own beliefs and can speak for myself. * Who is this mysterious white man everyone talks about??? And why is it never "the white woman"? You have to click to read the 2nd part :DNoting all of this isn’t to pretend I’ll be rooting for some other nation. A boy can mature beyond his infantile displays of hyper-patriotism, but the sense of American solidarity will always remain. That means in every individual contest I watch, I’ll almost certainly be pulling for the red-white-and-blue (and probably with the occasional “USA!” outburst). However, I’ve outgrown the lust for an overpowering victory that has us, medal-count-wise, leave everyone else in the dust. I’ve outgrown it because while I know our athletes deserve our support and respect, I also know that the same respect is due all the competitors from all the nations at the games — and respect is something wholly different from complete conquest. It’s a truism we should remember when watching the Olympics — and when contemplating the larger world. I can relate. your pal, Fred |
