They don't even have a complete body count WRT this crime. There are still bodies, possible living people still in that theater (as of 2PM EDT, per AP).Apparently the teabagger guy has the same name, so it's not a leap of faith to draw the conclusion. Had the teabagger guy had been involved in some altercation involving firearms that got reported locally, it's a more obvious conclusion that any editor might run with. They retracted it. You don't see Brighbart or Drudge retracting anything. Why don't you explain why that is? |

So when a Holmes, Loughner, or Brevik explodes onto the front page, we are astonished to find a white male doing the killing. The thing is, white men have (like all kinds of other rampage killers--Colin Ferguson comes readily to mind) been doing this kind of thing for all of the modern era.But, again, terroristic Muslims are hardly the only ones out there with guns, bombs, and a grudge. |

Actually, the Arapahoe County sheriff says Holmes entered through an unlocked emergency exit. I guarantee somebody will try to sue the theater over that, even though it's mandated by the fire code. |

This is what happens when you violate the rule of "three attributable sources" before putting a story on the air. Allegedly, a local Denver TV station made the claim and quickly retracted it. That's only ONE "attributable source" and they walked it back within minutes after the erroneous report.The pressure to get "news" on the air without properly following the rules results in stuff like this. And a network should know better. The requirements there are even higher than for some Podunk TV station. Another example of the high cost of "instant news." :( |
