Let's look at THIS incident today for a moment. Holmes allegedly planned this out very carefully, and with great attention to detail. He armed himself with an AR-15 assault rifle, TWO .40-caliber handguns, dressed himself in full body armor (including a helmet), lobbed tear gas into the theater, shot SEVENTY-ONE human beings (including infants), and booby-trapped his home with all kinds of anti-personnel devices and explosives.Whether he was a "right-winger" or not, he was clearly a highly dangerous individual, who would have put any rabid, jihad-obsessed Muslim terrorist to shame, and he was running around with serious, military-grade weaponry. That great bugaboo of the right, the "Muslim terrorist", is far from the only threat we face. Going to the movies shouldn't be a life-safety issue. It will be interesting to see what, if any, motive the authorities do establish in the coming days and weeks for this unspeakable act. |
