Because we were discussing income tax. No one was discussing sales tax. We are all subject to sales tax equally, of course depending on what you buy, or how much of it.

Why don't you just answer the question....why did you say "tax", which is a general term encompassing all taxes, instead of simply specifying which tax you thought was at issue? WTF are you afraid of, it isn't too much to ask.

You really are certifiable. Stop grandstanding, you know damn well I was discussing income tax.

Stop attempting to twist the conversation, and answer the question like a civilized person. Are all RWers as neanderthal as you're behaving here?

true, but the Upper East Side has it's share of winners because so many servants work there and play there because it's convenient.

Stop being ridiculous. Sales tax has nothing to do with this discussion and you damn well knew and know that.
Nothing better to say to dispute the facts? Start with utter nonsense. The left's trait.

I discussed those facts. You choose to ignore the fact that poor people pay more as a percentage of income in sales tax and other taxes, such as FICA. Then you get allindignat when told of what reality is. Then you deny it. Real neanderthal of you.

The problem with those numbers though keeps getting back to the most salient point ... the "rich" don't PAY "income" tax, wage-earners pay that. And there's no source for the numbers you posted. What blog?

Heh. Would it help any if I were to tell you that about.com is the New York Times? I know how you regard "propaganda" from the NY Times, that's the NY Times. :)

But you keep saying that if it's in the NY Times, then it's not credible. Now, because it suits your rap it's suddenly credible now? NY Times doesn't impress me either, but about.com impresses me even less.

And you should be more aware than most that when an article is written for a web site that doesn't do much in the way of checking that you can take numbers and labels and assert that the Dalai Lama is Breitbart's reincarnation. Doesn't make it so just because it says it somewhere on the internet.

All I'm saying is that those numbers are apparently carefully chosen since really wealthy people don't earn wages and tips, and calling it "income tax" when their "income" is mostly capital gains, rents and royalties doesn't make it comparable to someone who punches a clock by any means.

That said, if that's what you want to believe and run with, that's fine by me. But forgive me if I lulz.

I never say anything against the Times, other than it sways left. In fact, in keeping with that, this revelation should be even more upsetting to you, if the Times is saying these statistics about who pays the country's taxes.

And it doesn't matter if they earn wages or tips, they still earn income, even if they live on just interest income. You still have to pay income tax on that.

Doesn't upset me in the least. What I find amusing here is that for all these years, the republican mantra was that the rich are so few in number, along with that magical "top ten" that their contributions to the federal budget are so small as to be meaningless and therefore any additional taxation on them would bring us no benefit. That we must institute a national sales tax of 15% and cut their taxes even more since their money doesn't do anything.

And now this ... LOL

Ah that was the best you could come up with to dispute the facts. It's as good as your usual "Like it matters anyway", or "I find amusing", or "people are talking about this instead of the real issues".....all your usual checkmate remarks.
