Most economists are not impressed with 2.2% growth especially when you look at the sectors that are leading the trend positive. For what it's worth 2.2% is anemic and more like treading water. They say 2.9% would indicate a positive move upwards. |

Maybe and not directed at you, but I think that many people only started speculating that this is the "new normal" in order to to make it look like Obama's policies have done as well as they possibly could. He did everything he could and this is where we are, so this must be as good as it gets. Or so they think.I've lived through enough downturns and recoveries to know that people often to make broad generalizations based on recent data that turn out to be wrong one way or the other. I fully expect to see a boom for many of us even if there remains a substantial underclass that needs to be supported. |

Things might even get to pre-recession levels, back to where they were in say 2006. But even that might not happen as things may be derailed by the turmoil in Europe.This is the reason there will be no real recovery. Bush brought down the economy both by encouraging more Mexican immigration and by allowing the sub-prime mortgage debacle, which gave credit to unworthy people (part of his "ownership society" rubbish). His foolish tax cuts and wars also served to eat out whatever was left of the Clinton-era federal budget surplus. But the economy was already screwed before Bush's policies pushed things over the edge. Between losses to automation and outsourcing and the growing low-IQ underclass, there simply isn't enough to sustain a healthy economy. |
