Yep.I hope that with regard to their nuclear weapons program, Iran capitulates under the economic sanctions first so that it will not be necessary but that's the timeline. SWIFT is about to cut them off soon too. |

Yep. $9.50 gas and another Middle East war is not good for either Obama or Republicans in Congress. Also the full force of the crippling sanctions don't take full effect until July anyway. They need to be tried first so as to make a military strike a true and legitimate last resort. Countries can stock up on their strategic reserves until then while our military and police and that of other allies put in place all the counter-measures to buttress the predictable Iranian military and terrorism response. That alone takes months. This is a one time thing and needs to be done right. There is no "re-do" |

If Obama were really cyncial he'd do it approx Nov 1, in conjunction with the Israelis. Get the military victory euphoria before the reality of all the bad side effects sets it. |

Such a strike would be deeply unpopular among the electorate and would blow up in his face. Also the results of such a strike are far from a guaranteed success. Most importantly, the best timing for such a complex military operation from an operational standpoint rarely coincides with the political calendar. |

No, Obama couldn't do it November 1st. He would HAVE to do it after the election. TO do it on November 1st could be disasterous to his reelection. |

Unfortunately I completely agree with you on this. Obama would be a fool to do anything before the election. Either way, whoever wins, whether it be him or the Republican, this will have to be dealt with soon after. |

If for whatever reason, Romney were to win in November, the strike will still go forward in Nov-Dec.in fact Romney would prefer it that way and he and his incoming staff would not only be briefed on it but would also even be given a say. Romney wouldn't want to start his new Administration with a war of his own initiation. That would cripple his agenda from the start. Any military events in Iran would be largely over by Jan 20 from an operational standpoint. I also anticipate that Romney, his running mate and his chosen national security experts (likely old hands from previous Republican administrations) will be regularly briefed on these matters once he clinches the nomination so they won't say something that may disrupt them. |

I do agree with you completely on this. It's serious stuff, and goes beyond the politics of either side. It's a sad reality.Sometimes I think the timing around the hyped 12/21/12 isn't so crazy, it's a bit interesting to say the least, even though I am not superstitious. |

The nation (and the world) is gonna have a really bad Thanksgiving and Christmas.Even worse if such a strike turns out to be inconclusive in the long term which is a real possibility. |
