Saying catholic charities shouldnt be forced to do something against their religion doesnt mean i am against birth control. Catholic Charities is a corporation. They are a business. Period. The law says that businesses are to provide contraceptive coverage. The President permitted an exclusion that put this onus on the insurers in these special cases. That means these corporations are not providing this necessary and important coverage directly. The corporate entities found this compromise acceptable.

The bishops did not. Bishops aren't running these corporations, they run the church itself, which has an exemption same as ALL churches do. This is all about controlling women. This will remove women from their right to full participation in society, the workplace and put an undue burden on families as they attempt to keep everyone fed, housed, clothed and healthy as their number continue to increase. It is about oppression. It is NOT about insurance.

Throwing argumentum ad hominem against me doesn't rewrite reality to suit your tastes.

Why do creationists cite logical fallacies but have no clue what they mean? You better look up the meaning of the ad hominem fallacy, because you're grossly off the mark if you think that that was one.

>>>>That's the best bet to stop this anti-woman, anti-family madness

"Anti-family"? Whom do you think you're addressing here, eh . . . ? It's the left that's anti-family; it's all in the Communist Manifesto.

Right, because communism is the basis of liberalism. [/sarcasm] You better look up the straw man while you're at it...

Bingbong, you were doing so fine with Olog, and now you had to drop this stuff.

Women of all persuasions want to control their reproductive lives.

True.

Very very few want 10+children.

Also true, but this is not necessarily a good thing.

That is unsustainable economically and physically, as there aren't enough resources on the planet to support such a population.

Since when do the reproductive behavior of women in this corner of the world translate to the rest of the world? I'm sure you're aware of the maddeningly low fertility rates of Whites (and by extension, presumably high-IQ individuals of all races), which in Eastern and Southern Europe is critically low. First world nations have more than enough resources to sustain a much higher fecundity. In fact, it is becoming imperative economically for these countries to boost their fertility—a fact we can see playing out in Greece and the rest of the PIIGS nations (save Ireland)—since a major fundamental cause of the problems these countries face is that they are accumulating an overabundance of retirees without young workers to support them.

As for the Third World, there is a great biological and economic incentive for couples there to have large families, as the replacement value is much higher there. There, it does make sense for many women to have 10+ children, with the hope that a few well survive to become healthy adults. There very much are still plagues in many of these parts, particularly sub-Saharan African (e.g. AIDS, malaria) and there will continue to be for the foreseeable future. But, you do have one point, as indeed, if we develop vaccines/cures for these diseases without a corresponding scale back in fertility, these folks are in serious trouble (think Rwanda or Sudan).

It is perhaps the height of tragedy that the people who go on about harmless specters such as "overpopulation", as you have, are typically both the people who are least contributing to it (as we've seen from global fertility rates) and the people whose progeny benefit society most. This self-culling practiced by the intelligent ultimately puts everyone in the world in a worse spot (since the Third World races depend on the support of intelligent peoples to survive).

Think about that the next time you worry about "overpopulation".

No, the difference in 2016 would be if Obama wins now, and both parties would need a new candidate then. The only reason the Democrats appear calm now is only because they have an candidate, and aren't going through the primary process. They did the same thing in 2008, and will do the same thing in 2016 if a Republican wins in 2012. If Obama wins this year, Both will be doing this all over again in 2016. If the republican wins this year, and the candidate reruns in 2016, only the Democrats will be going through this in 2016.

How about being able to feed these children? Just the economic hardship (relative) the past few years raise the concern of unfettered reproduction. Women have the right to control their fertility, if for no other reason than it's their bodies and lives on the line with every pregnancy. Existing children need to be cared for first. Family size must be kept to a maintainable level.

In Third World countries, contraceptives are incredibly popular when available, as it enables families to focus even the most meager available resources on already existing children. Many medical advances are available even there....especially those which fight childhood disease, immunization, so your point about replacement value is well outdated. As malaria and dysentery deaths are now being minimized through well funded focus on these plagues, the need for contraceptives will be universal.

Overpopulation is not imagined, when there is a drought, war or crop failure the starvation is very very real. And avoidable.

a major fundamental cause of the problems these countries face is that they are accumulating an overabundance of retirees without young workers to support them

Of course, given the perpetual weakening economies in the PIGS nations, there's even less incentive to have children, and in a country like Greece's case, the backup option of state employment isn't going to exist, so what would an increase in population do except serve as a burden for the state to educate and then support along with the retirees? Unless Greece wants to be paid for each immigrant they churn out in the future, there's little to no reason why Greece should bother pumping up their birth rate when there's no work for the present or their future to support children now or in the future as adults.

They are still a corporation, and law applies to them. The nature of their business isn't at issue.

They conduct business same as any corporation. The nature of such may differ, but it's still business, and they are still a corporation, subject to the law of the land.
