GOP Super Tuesday: LOLwut? |
|
Posted by JayZeeBMT on Sat Feb 25 12:43:15 2012 With Super Tuesday almost upon us, the leao-frog GOP race among the Presidential candidates is transforming the Republican Party into a smoking ruin. Gingrich, Santorum, Romney, and paul have successfully alienated even voters in their own party with their exclusionary, fear-based rhetoric and hatemongering.Even moderate Democrats are going "LOLwut?" over the GOP's self-destruction this election season. |

Whenever Romney or (less likely) Santorum locks up nomination, the real race begins. Then the anger currently being aimed at each other gets aimed at a far more desirable target, that inept, autocratic doofus in the White House. In case you think Obama still has a chance to win on his record, here's a reminder how people actually feel on one key issue: http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/157318/1/Congresswoman-Kathy-Hochul-Booed-Over-Birth-Control-Policy |

Over 60% of all Americans, and that includes Catholics, feel that the policy compromise the President enacted is the right thing to do. No church can impose its agenda in the secular corporate arena. Even the head of their hospitals council said this is completely acceptable. Only the bishops have an issue with this, and they are out of line on this one.The Constitution endows certain rights onto individuals. It does not endow these rights to corporations. Complaince with religious dogma belong to individual conscience, not corporate dictum. A few misinformed individuals at a single townhall does not a national movement make. |

Perhaps Republicans only look dysfunctional because there is no simultaneous Democratic race for comparison. Do you remember Obama and Hillary? Primaries too early, votes not counting, women vowing never to vote Democratic again,...it was a disaster. Yet everything turned out ok.The problem with the Republican candidates is the candidates. Romney is the only decent one. The party is full of nutty ideologues, but the same is true for Democrats. Probably even more so. |

President Obama isn't dividing the nation on this (the wide majority agree with his compromise, including the majority of American Catholicism), Sanitorium, with his intentions to allow banning of contraceptives IS. This is all ABOUT Sanityignorium's battle to bring back the 11th century. His denials of his intentions are as believable as Rmoney's flipflops are to the RW. |

You're also forgetting the near universality of contraceptive use. THAT is where the rubber meets the road, and that's not just figuratively. When Sanitorium proposed his ban..."allowing states to decide" (despite 2 long standing, unquestioned SCOTUS decisions which initially established reproductive rights for Americans) they lost the election. Even if they end up running Rmoney, you know not only Sanitilackium is gonna speak (and bring the whole thing up again fresh for the fall) but they're gonna have RCA language in their platform as well.Face it, you lost the war against sex, get over it and move on. This is NOT the 11th century. |

Obama was already at odds with the Vatican regarding abortion, but now he's done and added contraception to it. Singling them out is a great way to get even the Protestant denominations to rally around the Catholic Church, and that would really be an upsetting thing for the Dems in general, never mind the lib agenda. |

The contraceptive coverage rules apply to all employers. Many Protestant denominations already provide contraceptive coverage as basic care in complete compliance with the law that has yet to go into effect. You allegation has no basis in reality. The sleeping giant is reproductive rights. Nobody wants to see that go away. Deal with it.Women of all persuasions want to control their reproductive lives. Very very few want 10+children. That is unsustainable economically and physically, as there aren't enough resources on the planet to support such a population. There aren't plagues anymore. We fixed such tragedies pretty much with technology, and contraceptives solve population issues that would result from the lack of disease killing living humans. One more thought....liberals are NOT communists. There are no communists, they shut down all the kibbutz, which was communism in its manifesto-purist form. It doesn't work. Neither does oppressing the majority of the population through biology and religious dogma. Who do I think I'm addressing? ....a hateful, miserable, idiot troll nostaligic for the 11th century. Just to inform you, they didn't have the internet then. |

A woman that's using contraceptives keeps her family size manageable, affordable and can work (as in being up to the responsibilities of holding onto a job). Her children have the resources to grow up to become successful on their own. The parents have the chance to build their own savings and maintain independence in their old age. That also benefits their children, who by then will be able to focus on their own families. Fact is, that cannot happen without 2 incomes. So, what was that about "social issues" being nebulous and independent of economic issues? |
