The clip is presented by someone trying to make him out to be a racist....so it wasn't whoever made that youtube, but there's something wrong with that feed. There's a very noticeable slight glip right before he says it. You are a "journalist", that doesn't bother you? |

Selkirk did say it might be an audio compressor fault, something I'll look into. But how do you account for the absence of such a "skip" in the TV broadcast version? I saw it on the telly just a little while ago, too, no "hiccups" there at all. |

Well I haven't, so I am still going to be skeptical unless I see some sort of raw footage. It's too easy for EITHER side to play with the video to make it sound like or not sound like what they want. |

Again, I said "I can't hear him say it" in that video, and everyone on the "left" side of it jumped down my throat. I haven't seen any footage other than the one presented, and when you listen to it, it skips, and he doesn't say "black" clearly, if at all. In fact, to me it doesn't sound like it at all. Now it sounds like you actually listened and watched the video YOU posted, and you see the same problem I was talking about. |

When a microphone is pointed right at you and you say a word beginning with a B or a P (it's called "pop") some digital processing will attempt to compress it and overshoot on a soft sound immediately following it. Chances are the broadcast audio was analog and properly compressed and Adobe overcompressed. Happens all the time in digitizing unless you back off the defaults. Adobe handles that VERY poorly. Dynamic range is a terrible thing these days where digitizing wants everything within 3dB. :( |

Going back and forth in email with Michael Menefee, and digging in another screen. Have time to lob grenades over the transom here while waiting for replies. Story's all over the front page though between Michael and Anthony. Might not need to do a byline, but I'm the only one on staff there who's written antivirus code and so far looks like old 2006 code was leaked and that code would never work on anything newer than vista so I don't see it as the catastrophe the non-coders are seeing it as.The antisec and lulzboat kids in India are pissed about the cellphone spying over there and so far, nothing I'm seeing of the code has anything to do with that or is even relevant. Can't wait until the regular media catches up with this story, I wait in anticipation of the pure hyperbole that'll be taking off. Heh. |

To add onto this, the article states "Throughout my tenure in Congress, one of my highest priorities has been assisting those who are transitioning from welfare to the workplace. The JARC program has been essential to assisting families through this transition," said Senator Santorum. That's one of the things that differ between liberal democrats and moderate republicans. The Liberals are pro-welfare and don't mind having people live off of it indefinitely, while the moderate republicans prefer starter programs that wean people off of public assistance (whether they are ready or not). There should be a happy medium somewhere... :-\ Sadly, only the extremists get attention these days, which is sad because a president should really be somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. But that's just my opinion anyway... |
