They all mention the same union. How many articles would it take to convince you that the hotel housekeeping union supports this law?The union has been very active in this cause. link Last week, on November 9, 2010, housekeepers employed by Hyatt Hotels filed complaints with OSHA alleging injuries sustained on the job. The complaints were filed in eight cities across the country, including Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Long Beach, San Antonio, Honolulu and Indianapolis. Similar OSHA actions may occur in Boston, NYC, DC, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Miami, and Orlando with higher concentrations of hotel properties. This is the first time that employees of a single private employer have filed multi-city OSHA complaints, and it appears to be a coordinated effort with organized labor, UNITE HERE. The housekeepers allege injuries arising from their daily room quotas and argue that cleaning rooms and lifting heavy mattresses lead to accidents and workplace injuries. The complaints allege that workers are discouraged from reporting injuries due to fear of retaliation and that monetary rewards for having a safe workplace discourages complaints. The housekeepers recommend several solutions, including changes to fitted sheets, mops and other equipment used to clean a room, as well as a cap on their daily room quota. |

This is minor stuff.Requiring hotels to use fitted sheets for the benefit of a bunch of middle aged cleaning ladies is not what I'd call government overstepping it's bounds. These women work hard and they need every break they can get. No different than NYCT providing earplugs. It's all the same to me. |

That one's on me ... just train dick being his usual retarded self with an IQ smaller than the diameter of a wheel that has to be cut off an axle because it's shot. When I worked for the TA, had a brake failure and I asked Jeff and a few others back on the old subtalk about what the failure mode might have involved. Something was said about a "float" in the ME-23 stand and with Train Dick's usual quality of reading and understanding things, he turned it into "float valve" rather than the original "float IN the valve" and continues his brain cramp.Ignore the tard ... he only has five ideas. That's just one of them. |
