I like how it shows the next closest location at 115 miles away and the next one at almost 300 miles. At some point "the next closest" becomes extraneous information. lol |

I'd heard, but never experienced that McDonalds in Florida sold beer and that you could get it from drive thru's until the early 1980's. Not sure that I believe it so take it FWIW. I think that Florida's original drunk driving laws were similar to a few other southern states in that drinking and driving in and of itself was not a crime. I think that Mississippi was the last state to allow drinking and driving and that was well into the 80's and maybe into the 90's. |

McDonald's breakfast is "okay", but it's nothing to write home about.I also like the options of all those other burger places, that you can have a burger if you feel like it, even if it's before 11AM. There are times when I have been on the road since early in the morning, and am hungry by 10:30 or so, and it's always a pain that you can only get breakfast instead of the burger menu. |

The national chains all close at 11pm or 12am for some reason. Many of our McDonalds, Burger Kings are beginning to be open 24 hours, at least on Long Island. But it makes sense because people in Florida cities eat out at a high rate. Probably because of all of the tourists. The populations of Florida and the LA metro are comparable, but I'd guess that Florida has at least 5 times as many chain restaurants. We have many more non-chain, but Florida still has a ton more restaurants than we do. |

Where carjackings were invented! ;)It doesn't happen out here though. At least I never heard of it. I have heard of people getting robbed while waiting in drive thru lines, but that was many years ago. Actually the ones I heard of were shootings. I would probably never hear of a simple robbery. I didn't know carjackings were invented here.Today, I took a little drive up and down seedy US 41. Lots of taco and BBQ stands. Few franchise locations there. BBQ seems really huge down here. They even had a "pigfest" BBQ at a stadium in Lakeland, and every gas station now has some guy who pays for the space to sell BBQ, mostly pork, and chicken too. Only fried stuff down here is franchise, but I'm sure google could reveal a handful of mom-n-pop fried food joints. |
