Hahaha, and that zig zagging cause huge "baseball wars" from what I hear.....you had The Brooklyn Dodger fans and Yankee fans, often divided in ridgewood/Bushwick by whether you were in Brooklyn or Queens! And sometimes that border went right through the heart of blocks, and earlier, houses!Even the current/newer border made for strange things, as kids on one side of the street can be in Brooklyn and on the other, in Queens, it is a bunch of different streets as it zig zags through Ridgewood and Bushwick. An another interesting note....the Halsey St station on the L is in both Brooklyn and Queens. At that spot, the border runs down the middle of Wyckoff Ave, and the Manhattan bound platform is in Queens, and the Canarsie bound platform is in Brooklyn.... |

I don't care if he "reposted" or not. Who gives a crap. I am talking about CONTENT of the map, and that's the only thing that matters. |

Just like Queensbridge whose residents, depending on personal preference, will say they live in Queensbridge or in LIC or in Ravenswood. Lefrak City may not have been the best example but there are obscure post-consolidation neighborhoods like Pomonok and Utopia which don't have their own ZIPs and somebody trying to determine the rough boundaries would be unable to do so. Others like Glendale and Ridgewood are consolidated withing the same ZIP and larger neighborhoods like Astoria have multiple ZIP codes. The ZIP code sytem makes a mess of the areas around Flushing. Some have ZIP borders splitting them in half with part of the neighborhood in one ZIP and the other part in the other.ZIP codes borders are rough guidelines to locate a neighborhood but they do nothing to determine its real boundaries. |

ZIP codes borders are rough guidelines to locate a neighborhood but they do nothing to determine its real boundaries. They are most accurate, with few exceptions, than all of the other boroughs. Queens is more like outside NYC locations, than in NYC when it comes to it's neighborhoods. |
