Hahaha, and that zig zagging cause huge "baseball wars" from what I hear.....you had The Brooklyn Dodger fans and Yankee fans, often divided in ridgewood/Bushwick by whether you were in Brooklyn or Queens! And sometimes that border went right through the heart of blocks, and earlier, houses!
Even the current/newer border made for strange things, as kids on one side of the street can be in Brooklyn and on the other, in Queens, it is a bunch of different streets as it zig zags through Ridgewood and Bushwick.
An another interesting note....the Halsey St station on the L is in both Brooklyn and Queens. At that spot, the border runs down the middle of Wyckoff Ave, and the Manhattan bound platform is in Queens, and the Canarsie bound platform is in Brooklyn....
