I assumed he got fired. From the things I gleaned from his prior posts, he makes it sound like he quit. He once equated the TA to being a dead-end job. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't fired.

Again, you missed my point. The middle finger came from an AIRLINE PILOT, not some lowlife school kid at 3:01pm. The fact that an AIRLINE PILOT acted this way, is cause for concern for those who fly.

Well, we all wish, at some point, that we had done something else with our lives, even people in TA. But think about it. How many people really get fired by TA? You have to do something so stupid, that people will talk about it for years.

I was actually pretty good at T/O. Never even put a panel out, or hit a signal. I attribute this to working the PM's the entire six years. PM workers get their rest, while AM workers are always tired.

And MY point is that you are putting too much of a premium on the fact that he's an airline pilot. He's a human being, prone to the same emotions that you and I are. Does the fact that he's an airline pilot mean he cannot show frustration? As long as he's in control of his emotions in the cockpit, that's all I care about.

If I was in my T/O's uniform and I flipped you off as you passed by on a skip, would you be afraid to ride on another subway train?

I expect both a T/O and a pilot to be sober and concentrating on their job while they are working. Otherwise I expect they will exhibit the same range of positive and negative behaviors as everyone else.

For example, I'm sure some of each engage in various kinds of road rage. Some are also probably violent to their spouses. That's bad, but as long as they concentrate and control their anger while at work, it doesn't make me fear their performance on the job.

I agree. I hate to fly, but I still do. I normally stress on the takeoff. Less on the cruising and even less on the landing. Seems like most planes with problems have them at the beginning. Other than Alaska Flight 261 you almost never hear about planes just falling out of the sky.

Yeah, Long Beach Airport is very cool. It's like a trip back in time. The airport is very small and is maybe 60 years old. Not only do you board using removable steps (lots of small airports have that) but the baggage claim is outside. They have a conveyor and you wait just outside the terminal for your luggage. I live between Long Beach and LAX, but I mainly use LAX because there are many more options.

Other than Alaska Flight 261 you almost never hear about planes just falling out of the sky.

Speaking of Alaska, the mother of a longtime friend was on the plane that accidentally flew straight through the eruption of Mt Redoubt, causing all 4 engines to shut down.

Now if that had happened to Luch, he'd have a free pass from ever flying again.

I really miss the job sometimes. Although Transit does things to their employees that make no sense, I still have dreams about coming back. For the most part, no one bothers you once you're alone in the cab. But I can't come back due to other commitments.

I'd say I have about three TA dreams per week, and check my "seniority" once-in-a-while too.

In the A div, I'd have weekends off on XL BWY PM. In the B, I'd be VR 45.

What I find funny is how some senior T/O's are running from the J to the E(or other lines) to avoid tech trains.

I really wish I didn't have to resign. It was tough giving in my handle. You don't know how bad I felt leaving 130 Livingston.

When in NY, I always ride the front to see if the T/O is someone I know.

Thanks for clearing that up.
