I don't know if it's because I lost interest in trains a bit, or if the topics are just uninteresting, but I can't get into many of the current topics there. It's the first time in those 10 years this has happened for more than a few day stretch.The last one I got "into" was the LIRR one a couple weeks ago, but I couldn't find any topics there that interest me. Perhaps I needed a break, I don't know..... I guess the uninterest there will pass when some good topic comes up.... |

That's been SOP for my entire 26 years at the TA.Things happen, especially during the off-hours that can delay a train. There is track work, signal work, etc. that cause a delay so that I miss my connecting train that gets me to work. documenting that I was on a particular train will get me off the hook from discipline for being late for work. |

One of the biggest problems can be taking the bus to the subway during the overnight hours. If a bus is running just a tad bit early, earlier than the posted schedule, you could miss the bus and have to wait an hour or end up calling for car service to get to work.Whe I worked at Main Street, I had to use the Q28 to get to work. I live near the third stop on the line. The midnight driver would have a long layover at Bay Terrace around 5AM. Quite often he would take a nap, wake up late, and flag my stop and others within Bay Terrace by taking 23rd Avenue directly to Cpl. Kennedy Street, instead of using the prescribed route (probably because I was usually the only one on the bus until 32 Av-Clearview Expwy. That was infuriating. When I found out about this I started waiting for him at his layover spot. Imagine if someone else had an expectation to ride this bus from one of the stops he flagged. the next bus was 20 minutes later. But that is a case of how documenting bus/train #s can bail you out of a jam. |
