Muslims banned from Husseins Rally's |
|
Posted by Orange Blossom Special on Wed Jun 18 19:18:23 2008 One of two Muslim women who were denied visible seats behind Barack Obama’s stage at Joe Louis Arena on Monday because they wore head scarves said they deserve a personal apology from Obama and close-up seats at a future campaign rally.Aref said she was especially disappointed because she was attracted to Obama’s message of unity and inclusion. She said she’d like more than an apologetic phone call from a campaign official. “I was kind of in shock that had happened,” said Aref, a Bloomfield Hills resident and graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. “I’ve lived here practically my whole life, and never been treated that way. It’s so ironic that it was at his rally, he obviously would not promote any discrimination at all.” Aref said she received a phone call and apology from an Obama campaign offiicial, but said that’s not enough. [nice typo from the detriotistan press] Aref’s aunt, Dr. Eman Salem, a Bloomfield Hills anesthesiologist, said she was outraged when she learned of what had happened to her niece at the rally. “This is an insult to all Muslims,” said Salem, 50, a Canadian citizen who said she’s worked in the U.S. for five years. “I wouldn’t take my hijab off for anyone. It doesn’t prevent Muslims from accomplishing anything. We take pride in our religion and we take pride in our citizenship.” =================== Important, because this girl had to pay $8000 to one for not hiring her after a 10minute interview. And the interviewee says that hurt her feelings. If I got 8G's for every job I didn't get...I wouldn't need to work! ![]() It seems too lunatic to be true. But here a hair salon boss reveals how she was driven to the brink of ruin - and forced to pay £4,000 for 'hurt feelings' - after refusing to hire a Muslim stylist who wouldn't show her hair at work |

He keeps talking about a Muslim background. I think he spoke to an Israeli newspaper last week.As I type this, CNN is doing it's race-baiting. They're making a race-issue out of the possibility that "East St. Louis could be flooded, and it's a poor black city". As far as Obama and this new controversy, it's his right to decide who is in camera range at his rallies. A presidential campaign is a marketing campaign. These people should shut the fuck up. |

His father was a Muslim, his stepfather was a Muslim, he lived for four years in a predominantly-Muslim city as a child and attended school with Muslim students where Islamic studies were taught.None of this is a secret. It's baffling that you're surprised. |

I don't think he's surprised . . . and people will always raise the question of how influential that "Muslim background" is, especially in light of his association with the NOI-influenced TUCC and its (former) pastor. |

Funny you say that, because several regulars here were going nuts a few months ago when we were discussing Obama's obvious Muslim roots. Obama's own website denies his Muslim background. I'm baffled that his half-brother is being so vocal when it's a topic Obama wanted to distance himself from. |

Well while on the subject of head scarfs, a few days ago at a BJ's in Queens there was this muslim woman who had not only a headscarf and the whole 'dress' but also the 'bee keeper' mask [basically like a taliban enforced outfit]. The whole thing was just so strange, I mean headscarf, fine. The dress, maybe fine. But when it covers the face, it just doesn't seem right at all. |

I respectfully disagree ... as I knew when Schvitzer went down in flames, we were about to get us the best governor we've EVER had in Dave Paterson. He lives in the next town north of me, and has for about 20 years now. I knew him personally when I worked for the state television agency, and he does not disappoint. In fact, over the years, he's only gotten better.Sometimes, "fighting Albany" fails miserably. Ask Schivtzer. Ask Paturkey. Ask Padre Cuomo ... no, Dave is DOING what Obama talks about doing, and in the few short months Dave has been governor, he's gotten FAR more accomplished than Spitzer EVER did since "day one." He's cut budgets as SOON as he got in, read the tea leaves, and until the economy recovers has prevented untold damage from out of control spending where the money just isn't there. Sorry folks in MTA land might not see it, but had the money that everyone THOUGHT they had until Dave got the REAL numbers during the "transition period" been spent, the future cutbacks would have been horrible. Like I said, know the man personally, have always enjoyed his company and working with him from time to time, but he's EXACTLY what we all need, and despite his hard work ... STILL has a sense of humor about getting things DONE ... Perfect example of Governor Dave and what he can do ... check out THIS video! http://capitalnews9.com/content/politics/118450/property-tax-cap-agreement-unlikely-by-end-of-session/Default.aspx Reason for the link is that you cannot "embed" the video, and they'll run a local advert ahead of the clip ... be patient and enjoy. After y'all see it, TELL me that Cuomo, Carey, Paturkey or Spitzer could have pulled something like this off? The bill being discussed was dead until Dave made "B and S" do something. Sorry, as far as I'm concerned, Dave Paterson is going to go down in history as the BEST governor we've ever had. |
