I respectfully disagree ... as I knew when Schvitzer went down in flames, we were about to get us the best governor we've EVER had in Dave Paterson. He lives in the next town north of me, and has for about 20 years now. I knew him personally when I worked for the state television agency, and he does not disappoint. In fact, over the years, he's only gotten better.Sometimes, "fighting Albany" fails miserably. Ask Schivtzer. Ask Paturkey. Ask Padre Cuomo ... no, Dave is DOING what Obama talks about doing, and in the few short months Dave has been governor, he's gotten FAR more accomplished than Spitzer EVER did since "day one." He's cut budgets as SOON as he got in, read the tea leaves, and until the economy recovers has prevented untold damage from out of control spending where the money just isn't there. Sorry folks in MTA land might not see it, but had the money that everyone THOUGHT they had until Dave got the REAL numbers during the "transition period" been spent, the future cutbacks would have been horrible. Like I said, know the man personally, have always enjoyed his company and working with him from time to time, but he's EXACTLY what we all need, and despite his hard work ... STILL has a sense of humor about getting things DONE ... After y'all see it, TELL me that Cuomo, Carey, Paturkey or Spitzer could have pulled something like this off? The bill being discussed was dead until Dave made "B and S" do something. Sorry, as far as I'm concerned, Dave Paterson is going to go down in history as the BEST governor we've ever had. |
