Columbia seized a 65 foot submarine capable of shipping 11 tons of crack.

So I guess they all can afford a submarine if those guys did.

Jerusalem security guard kills Arab attacker in Old City

A security guard shot and killed an Arab
attacker in the Old City of Jerusalem on Friday after the man shot and moderately wounded another security guard, police said.

Ten bystanders were lightly to moderately wounded in the shootout - apparently from the guard's gunfire - including six Jews, two Armenians and two Muslims.

Police and rescue officials were on the scene, and a police source told Israel Radio that the "situation was under control."

The late-morning incident occurred near the Latin
Patriarchate by the Jaffa Gate, when the assailant grabbed the guard's gun and shot him twice in the chest, Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. The second guard killed the man as he tried to flee the scene.

The victims of the attack were rushed by Magen David Adom paramedics to three Jerusalem hospitals.

The assailant, roughly 20 years old, did not carry any documents identifying him, police said.

Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski condemned the attack, saying that the city would not capitulate to attempts to undermine its security.

Hm...I guess since they started the whole passporting thing for going to Canada and the islands.

But that's just US stamps though isn't it? I meant if I don't need a Visa to go to most countries as an American, I don't get stamped do I?

From them, a passbook of just US stamps doesn't sound exciting.

Most of the Caribbean countries have pretty entry stamps.

But if you are really looking to use up pages in your passport, book a tourist trip to mainland China.

Honestly, I can recommend it. I would like to return to Beijing someday. My only complaint of my trip there was that I was hurried along by the tour guide when I wanted to spend more time in photography.

But from the passport point of view, I got a full page multi-color visa stamp and a separate entry stamp!

I want an Israeli stamp in my passport just so I can have that priviledge of being barred from some countries. I hear getting stamps in your passport is supposed to be fun. All my pages are blank :(

I've only got two stamps and a sticker in my passport: an entry into Turkey, an exit from Turkey, and an annoyingly expired multiple entry visa (I was actually tempted to take a boat to Rhodes and back to get an extra two stamps, but I didn't get around to it)!

Four more peace activists arrested

Four Palestinians infiltrators armed with knives and a hand grenade were captured by IDF soldiers soon after they crossed through the security fence into Israel from the Gaza Strip on Monday afternoon, the army said.

The men, whose ages were not disclosed, were spotted by soldiers manning a guardpost as they cut through the fence near the Kissufim Crossing. Patrols in the area were alerted, and the four men were captured by Golani infantry soldiers without incident a few dozen meters from where they had breached the fence, an IDF spokesperson in the southern command said.

Despite the weapons found in their possession, military officials said it was not yet clear if the men's intentions were criminal, terrorist, or if the men were seeking employment, as is the case in the vast majority of attempted infiltrations from Gaza since disengagement.

The sources cited several recent incidents in which Gazan terrorists used livestock, and on occasion even women and children, to test the fence's sensitivity, or possibly to lull those monitoring the fence's electrical sensors into complacency through frequent false alarms.

IDF officials said Monday that they were considering whether to restrict Palestinian vehicles from approaching to within one kilometer from the security fence following the latest string of incidents.

The Golani soldiers are members of an elite commando unit.

The Israeli military spokesperson was referring to the weapons in the context of lots of Gazans carrying weapons routinely, so their purpose in coming through the fence might indeed have been unclear.

It would be the equivalent, hypothetically, of, say, everyone in South Central LA's ghettos carrying weapons with them routinely, but only a certain % being gang-bangers or other bad guys.

Peace tunnel found

An underground tunnel stretching towards Israel from the northern Gaza Strip and hidden by a Palestinian greenhouse was discovered by the IDF on Tuesday, security forces reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, Palestinian terror organizations hoped to fill the tunnel with bombs, which would then be detonated under an unspecified Israeli civilian or military target. The army is also checking into the possibility that gunmen intended to use the tunnel to infiltrate into Israel.

With the help of intelligence passed onto the IDF, security forces found the tunnel hidden underneath a greenhouse which was being used to grow tomatoes. Although the tunnel was not yet finished, it had succeeded in coming to within 700 meters of the security barrier. IDF troops discovered in the tunnel a generator which was thought to have assisted their excavation efforts.

The security establishment noted that the tunnel is likely to be one of many which have been dug, or are being dug from Gaza into Israel.

"It's not unreasonable to think that more of these kinds of tunnels exist, and that terrorists are just waiting for the day when they receive the order to use them," one IDF official said.-
----

Hang on. Real, honest to goodness, greenhouses are actually in use still?
I thought it was all like the pullout(where 10,000 are still homeless) where all of them were inactive or destroyed.
