Lewis Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman feels strongly that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani should not attend this Friday’s 9/11 memorial event. But that hasn’t stopped Blakeman from appearing with – and even endorsing – a 9/11 conspiracy theorist who has called the attack “an inside job.” An unlisted YouTube video posted last week and shared with City & State shows Blakeman making an endorsement video with congressional candidate Joel Anabilah-Azumah, who is running on the Republican and Conservative lines against Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke in Brooklyn. “He is going to make a great member of Congress,” Blakeman said while filming the previously unreported and as-of-yet unposted endorsement. “We need fighters like that in Congress.” Anabilah-Azumah has spread the conspiracy theory that the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center was “an inside job.” He made the assertion in a 2024 post on X that remains up on his official campaign account. “I don’t even bother to argue it any more,” Anabilah-Azumah wrote in the lengthy post that also touched on other topics including the firebombing of German cities during World War II. “You don’t have to believe it, but that is what happened and history is pretty clear on that.” The unlisted video showed Blakeman filming endorsements of other Republican candidates as well, including Assembly Member Michael Novakhov and state Sen. Steve Chan. Those videos don’t appear to be publicly posted yet either. A spokesperson for Blakeman did not return a request for comment, nor did the Anabilah-Azumah campaign. It’s not the first time Blakeman has received scrutiny for appearing with right-wingers who espouse 9/11 conspiracies. He filmed a video with Rochester GOP leader Marcus Williams, who had previously shared a conspiracy theory video that blamed “Zionists” for the attack. That was after Blakeman’s running mate Todd Hood already got flak for filming an interview with Williams. Addison Dick, a spokesperson for the state Democratic Party, called Blakeman’s endorsement of Anabilah-Azumah “disqualifying” and called on the Republican gubernatorial nominee to apologize for appearing with him and others who have espoused 9/11 conspiracies. “Blakeman’s surrounding himself with strictly far-right extremists as he echoes Trump’s election denial lies, endorses the Great Replacement Theory, and aligns himself with conspiracy theorists,” he said in a statement. |

I'm wondering if Blakeman even knew about Azumah's views. I sincerely doubt he would have endorsed him if he knew. Anyway, it's important to defeat Hochul at all costs. |

It's the election of an executive team and a political party. The election gives the voters a hint of how well the candidate's team would govern and the quality of the office holders that political party will provide. As you can tell from the video, this was a photo op for all Republican candidates running in Kings County. The candidate's election staff scheduled the meeting. Blakeman appointed this staff. The staff should have known Blakeman's views and the views of every candidate seeking his endorsement. If the staff did not know the views or failed to communicate them to the candidate, then this is an indication of how thoroughly Blakeman would act as governor. Blakeman would delegate to a staff that did not properly vet appointments or would withhold important infromation from the governor. Both are prescriptions for disaster. The staff did not reach out to each candidate individually. The staff contacted the Kings County Republican leader. The county leader supplied the candidates. The Republican Party has its own set of fringe elements. The county leader either did not recognize that an Azumah endorsement might embarrass Blakeman or he did and noted this on the endorsement list he sent Blakeman's staff. If the former, this is an indication of the caliber of appointments to expect in a Blakeman administration. If the latter, the onus for the embarrassment falls squarely on Blakeman. |

How come I can't find this supposed truther post that Lewis claims exists? Even on Google, the only result that makes this claim is that of Lewis herself, and even in her own post she does not link it.The NY Republican Party is full of RINOs notwithstanding. |
