Really? There’s more insures out there denying access to MSK? A year+ ago I had a similarly pernicious battle over coverage for cancer-related surgery that isn’t done anywhere closer. (Or readily accessible, trains to NYC run daily close by)

If you have access to a PPO plan that'll enable you to get there.

Well the active members do have more at stake than the retirees.

LOL! Only the former (echocardiogram) is a type of ultrasound. The EKG measures the heart's electrical activity.

Are your retiree benefits tied to current labor agreements?

An echocardiogram does not produce harmful radiation. As opposed to a CT scan, which does.

Medicare pays for one per year for me. But I have a leaky heart valve. Without that, they probably wouldn't pay. They last paid my doctor $225 but I think he bills around $500 and they disallow the rest.

You've lost it. I was just providing information.

Lots of other people here are discussing his cause of death. Why don't you call all their posts uncouth and classless as well?

I'm going for a stress EKG with radiation in 2 weeks. Its a 4 hr procedure. Your heartbeat is artificially increased (no treadmill) to appx 150 beats per minute and your coronary arteries are measured for blockage. My last numbers is that I have a 40% blockage of my coronary arteries. They want to see how much "better" my numbers are.
BTW I have to sign a release that if this test kills me, my family cant sue

Only if we are offered contractual raises which hasn't happened since 1997. Also, retirees do not need to stay in the union in order to receive our pension. I'm still a member. Since 1986.

Again, I was not talking about an echocardiogram but that was not clear in my post.

I have the test once each year. It's the gold standard in cardiac testing

I see. As i was not in a union when i retired mi e does not work that way. We usually get a 3% cola adjustment annually but that only applies to the first $18,000.00 The balance was fixed at retirement

Me too.

It resulted in a triple bypass.

So, I'm still here.
