And whos ever heard of it?? I'm sure the average Joe 6-pack NFL-MLB fan etc.has never heard of it. Soccer in this country is thought of foreign as opposed to Football, Baseball Basketball etc. As American as apple pie as the saying goes. Or went.

We've never had a better game at the World Cup in the 30 years that I've watched. I'm expecting to at least make the round of 16 now.

The country has changed though. I don't think that's completely true for people under 40.

In my lifetime baseball has gone from the number one sport in the country to number two and now it's not even in the top 3 most popular sports and is behind soccer.

What US soccer is missing is an international superstar. Someone that is one of the top 10 players in the world. When that happens you'll see lots more kids get into it.

You’re moving the goalposts. First you said that the supposed lack of a famous soccer hall of fame implies that the sport is unpopular.

Anyway, where is the college football hall of fame?* Do you think most people have heard of it? Yet, college football is exceedingly popular. It’s obvious that the popularity of a sport’s hall of fame has little correlation to the sport’s popularity.

I would argue that only the National Baseball Hall of Fame is famous, the others aren’t. I bet that most people don’t know where the basketball and hockey halls of fame are either. Or that the hockey hall of fame is actually in Canada.

*Canton is the site of the pro-football hall of fame. It doesn’t honor college football as such.

I know where all of those are except hockey. I even know where the NASCAR hall of fame is, but I've never been to any of them. Maybe I would have gone to basketball as a kid, but as an adult I can only work up so much interest for these things.

Regarding hall of fames, that's not going to be a thing for soccer really, even if it manages to become the most popular sport in America because it's a world sport with popular leagues in several countries.

If we ever develop a superstar, he'll be more likely to play in England or Spain than the US. Or maybe in Germany or Italy. It's just a different vibe and fan pattern.

I'll stick my neck out here and guess you had to look all that up.
With MLB,NFL,NHL for example, true sports geeks would know all about their sport of choices' awards & location of their museums & famous players w/o having to look any of that up. They would not know all that much about soccer such as any famous players (other than Pele, maybe). Or who was the best team(s) for the last 5 years.
That was my point.

I cannot wait for June 25 when a country that begins with the letter C maybe the DR Congo or Curacao I can't remember it doesn't matter gets the Ivory Coast in what will no doubt be a captivating World Cup tilt to be played in Philadelphia. I might go - I mean it, I'll do it. S-ccer has a tremendous following in the US in Perth Amboy and West New York and, possibly, sections of an area approximated by a triangle connecting Margaret, Texas with Electra, Texas and Elmer, Oklahoma. That is the extent of it. S-ccer continues on its upward trajectory. Oh yeah, Pulisic was asked at the post game press conference following the game against Uruguay or Paraguay or something like that about his devastating injury and he stated he got kicked slightly in the back of the left calf and quote hopes close quote to be ready for the next tilt.

Meanwhile, there is Jack Hughes of the Devils who got his mouth split open and teeth knocked out but went to the locker room, got it stitched up, and returned to the ice to score the Gold Medal winning goal in the Olympics.

I forgot I also see s-ccer being played in the Ironbound section of Newark on my way to work and when I look down over Paterson when those pilots are turning final during south flow operations to 22L.

Yes. I thought the brackets made it clear that it was a copy-paste job from Wikipedia or something (it was Wikipedia).

But like I said in my other post: where is the college football hall of fame?

Doesn't even have to be a Pele. He's like the soccer equivalent of Babe Ruth and we haven't even had a soccer Don Mattingly yet.

Re: USA up 3-0 at half in 1st 2026 WC Game

As a casual football watcher, the Americans played different than any other team I've seen.
Football is a weird slow sport. The europeans and latin americans like to take their time with the ball.
The Americans played like Americans. Like it was american football or hockey. Very fast paced. No wasted time. No 2 hour lunch break like the French. How do and could they ever lose?
