He entered a work zone at a high speed.Even if he doesn't understand English, you'd think he might recognize the bright orange signs that accompany a work zone and would slow down. Many work zones also have digital speedometers. Especially on the interstate. Chinese bus drivers have been in the news before. I remember when one didn't understand the bus lanes on Woodhaven Blvd and crashed into a building in Rego Park because of it. |

These guys are very overworked. You take your life into your hands when being a passenger, especially when riding overnight.Be it as it may this guy killed 5 people, including a family of 4. The problem is greater than a punch line. It would seem that some humble civil servant at the state dept. decided to ignore the rule about naturalized citizens having to speak English. It eould also seem that some humble civil servant at the NY DMV decided that a person who couldnt speak or read English, should have a CDL and be allowed to drive a bus. Suppose this humble servant, in the course of his duties, decided to let a rail car with a 7/8 flange was still safe for service and then that car derailed? Bottom line is that we are not being served by those humble civil servants who adjust the rules or ignore them. In this case 39 people paid for their well intentioned failures. |

I hear New York got rid of the English requirement for getting a CDL.I notice a lot more trucks swerving and unable to maintain their lanes lately. Trucks used to be dependable good drivers imo. But in the past few years, with all of the controversies, I keep seeing trucks swinging around on straight wide highways dangerously. |
